Dead in the Dome 2.0 - Melvin Seals & JGB w/ Steve Kimock & DJ Logic
Wisdome LA and Kentyah presents a legendary weekend of Grateful Dead music in store for Los Angeles. Melvin Seals and JGB will be in town for two nights of Grateful Dead and JGB music! If that wasn’t enough they’ll be joined by two of the most acclaimed Grateful Dead guitarists of all time, Steve Kimock and John Kadelick. Plus they’ll all be jamming in a 360 degree Dome, with trippy psychedelic images projected all over the ceiling. It’s a truly awesome experience!
After playing in Keith and Donna Godchaux’s ‘Heart and Gold Band” in the late 1970s, Jerry Garcia called Steve Kimock one of his favorite guitarists on the scene. From that moment Steve found his way into the ears of Dead Heads and he hasn’t stopped blowing our minds since. His band Zero with John Cipollina in the 1980’s included Melvin Seals and Vince Welnick, and recorded original songs written by Robert Hunter. Steve has truly been embraced by the Grateful Dead family. Steve has also played with: Bob Weir’s Kingfish, Phil Lesh and Friends, The Other Ones, and The Rhythm Devils.
John Kadelick was the founding member of Dark Star Orchestra…need we say more? Ok, just little more. In addition to forming the ultimate Grateful Dead Tribute band, John was handpicked by Phil Lesh and Bob Weir to be the Guitarist for the Furthur shows from 2009-2014. John can also be seen melting faces with his band Golden Gate Wingman (with Jeff Chimenti and Reed Mathis).
Although John had started playing with Melvin Seals and JGB in 2003, it had been a few years since the two had played together until this fall JGB tour. And John has really injected a new breath of energy to the music these past months. The shows have been full of energy, up tempo, and the jams incredible. Hearing Melvin’s B3 organ with these two guitar wizards is something LA has been needing for a while! While Melvin and JGB have played in Ventura and San Diego in the past few years, there hasn’t been a Los Angeles area Melvin Seals and JGB in a long time.
In addition there will be a Shakedown Street and music by DJ Logic. Come early, hang out, and get ready for some GET DOWN!
